Somalia rejects map shown by Israeli Prime Minister as violation of its sovereignty
The Federal Government said the map depicted Somalia as fragmented, and reaffirmed that Somaliland and Puntland are inseparable parts of the Somali nation.

Mogadishu (SONNA) - The Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned and rejected a map presented during a recent press briefing by the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, which it said depicts the Federal Republic of Somalia as fragmented and violates its internationally recognised borders.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to Somalia’s national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, as enshrined in the Constitution of Somalia, the Charter of the United Nations and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
“Somali territories, including Somaliland and Puntland, are integral and inseparable parts of the unified Somali nation,” the statement said.
The Government said any attempt by external entities or foreign officials to redraw, misrepresent or undermine the political map of Somalia is a direct violation of international law and an unacceptable breach of fundamental diplomatic principles. It called on international partners and bodies to respect the independence and territorial integrity of the Somali state.
The statement follows the joint declaration issued on 4 October at the quadrilateral summit in Al Alamein, Egypt, in which the leaders of Somalia, Egypt, Eritrea and Sudan affirmed their support for the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and rejected any interference aimed at undermining them, particularly recognition of what the declaration referred to as “Somaliland”.
The Federal Government said it remains fully dedicated to safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation and will continue to uphold its constitutional duty to protect the unity of the Somali people.
