Somalia and Libya Advance Bilateral Relations, Prepare for Joint Committee Meeting

Tripoli(SONNA)-Somalia's Ambassador to Libya, Abdulfatah Sheikh Ahmed, met with Al-Taher Al-Baour, the Libyan official in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Sunday as part of the ambassador's assumption of his diplomatic duties in Libya.
The meeting focused on the longstanding bilateral relations between Somalia and Libya and explored ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across various sectors.
During the discussions, both sides agreed to enhance coordination through diplomatic channels to facilitate the implementation of existing bilateral agreements and to make preparations for convening the Libyan-Somali Joint Committee at the earliest opportunity.
The officials also reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Somalia's Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, to Libya, a visit expected to further advance cooperation between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close consultation and coordination to deepen bilateral cooperation, elevate relations to broader horizons, and serve the shared interests of the two brotherly nations and peoples while reinforcing the bonds of friendship and partnership.
The meeting was attended by Najib Al-Rayyani, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, and Malik Al-Asifer, the official responsible for the Somalia portfolio at Libya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
