Somalia Unveils 2025 Economic Report as Domestic Revenues Rise

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Wednesday attended the launch of Somalia’s 2025 Economic Report, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, highlighting progress in economic development and reforms to the national financial system.

The event was attended by federal parliamentarians, government ministers, accredited ambassadors, economic experts and other officials.

The report reviewed Somalia’s overall economic performance in 2025, including fiscal reforms, increased domestic revenue and changes in external financial support.

Prime Minister Hamza said the resilience of the Somali people and government efforts helped sustain economic growth despite domestic and international challenges. He commended the Ministry of Finance for strengthening public financial management, transparency and accountability, particularly through increased domestic revenue collection.

“The government has not politicized, and will not politicize, the financial support it provides to the Federal Member States. 2025 was the year in which the most financial support was provided to the Federal Member States,” Prime Minister Hamza said.

He also stressed the need to sustain economic reforms, create a favorable environment for domestic and foreign investment, and strengthen laws and policies governing the economy and investment.
