Somalia, Uganda Seek Stronger Trade Ties at First Mogadishu Business Forum

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia and Uganda are seeking to expand trade and investment ties as Mogadishu hosts the Somali-Ugandan Business Forum and a meeting of the two countries’ Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation for the first time.
A high-level Ugandan delegation of government officials and business leaders arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday to attend the meetings, which aim to identify investment opportunities, strengthen economic cooperation and promote partnerships between businesses in both countries.
Somalia’s Ambassador to Uganda, Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare, welcomed the delegation at Aden Adde International Airport alongside members of the Somali diplomatic mission.
Qanyare described Mogadishu’s hosting of the events as a significant step towards deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
Uganda previously hosted two rounds of the joint cooperation meetings, with this edition marking the first time the events to be held in Somalia.
