Somalia, UN-Habitat Discuss Housing and Urban Development

Nairobi, (SONNA) — The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Kenya, H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, hosted the UN-Habitat Somalia Country Office to discuss advancing cooperation on Somalia’s urban development, infrastructure, livelihoods, local government and housing agenda.

The discussions focused on integrating housing more effectively into Somalia’s National Transformation Plan, strengthening durable solutions to displacement and supporting sustainable recovery.

The meeting also covered preparations for the upcoming Somali Housing Breakfast, which will bring together the Government, development partners, private sector, banks and other stakeholders to build momentum towards an integrated Housing Policy for Somalia under the Africa Affordable Housing Compact with UN-Habitat.

The Ambassador expressed readiness to facilitate continued collaboration and support efforts to translate the discussions into coordinated action towards sustainable and affordable housing in Somalia.
