Somalia, Spain Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Doha, (SONNA) — The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, H.E. Ali Mohamed Omar (Ali Balcad), held a meeting with the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs of Spain, Mr. Diego Martínez Belío, in the city of Doha, on the sidelines of the Global Security Forum.

The two officials discussed ways to strengthen and develop the next phase of cooperation between the two countries, with fisheries cooperation being the most important topic of the discussions.

Both sides agreed to explore the possibility of holding formal political consultations, which could be held in Mogadishu or Madrid, in order to establish a permanent mechanism for dialogue and exchange of views between the two countries, at a time when Somalia is expanding its cooperation and relations with European countries.
