Somalia, Qatar Explore Investment and Strategic Cooperation Opportunities

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, held a series of meetings with key Qatari government institutions and companies during his official visit to Qatar, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations, promoting investment and sharing expertise.
The Prime Minister and his delegation met with Qatar Diar, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Qatar Airways and the Qatar Leadership Centre, in addition to high-level meetings with Qatari leaders.
During the engagements, the Somali delegation presented investment opportunities in Somalia, particularly in fisheries, energy, tourism and transportation, while highlighting the country’s economic growth and emerging opportunities resulting from ongoing development.
Qatari institutions and companies expressed interest in Somalia’s growing market and in exploring productive investment opportunities that could benefit both countries. The discussions also covered ways to enhance cooperation in trade, transportation, institutional development and leadership capacity building.
The Prime Minister’s visit forms part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts to strengthen its strategic partnerships, expand economic cooperation and attract foreign investment.
The engagements are expected to open new avenues for economic cooperation and investment while further strengthening the longstanding friendship and bilateral relations between Somalia and Qatar.
