Somalia Participates in Africa Maritime Forces Summit in Morocco

Rabat, Morocco(SONNA)-Somalia is participating in the 4th Africa Maritime Forces Summit (AMFS) in Rabat, Morocco, from 20–24 July 2026, with the Commander of the Somali Marine Forces, Brig. Gen. Abdiwahaab Abdullahi Omar, representing the country at the high-level gathering.
The summit brings together maritime leaders from more than 40 African countries and nearly 20 partner nations to discuss ways to strengthen maritime security, enhance regional cooperation, and address shared challenges.
Held under the theme "Innovation and Partnership to Strengthen Maritime Security," the forum focuses on improving maritime domain awareness, combating illegal fishing, piracy, and transnational crime, while promoting greater information sharing and operational cooperation among African navies, coast guards, and international partners.
The annual summit aims to reinforce African-led maritime security efforts, strengthen institutional capacity, and deepen partnerships that support regional stability and secure maritime trade across the continent.
