Somalia, Pakistan Discuss Strengthening Air Force Cooperation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, received a senior delegation from the Pakistan Air Force led by Air Marshal Muhammad Sarfraz, Air Defence Commander and Deputy Commander of the Pakistan Air Force.

The meeting, attended by the Commander of the Somali Air Force, Brig. Gen. Abdirisaaq Mahmoud Haji, focused on strengthening defence cooperation between Somalia and Pakistan, particularly the rebuilding and development of the Somali Air Force, as well as training and enhancing the skills of officers.

The delegation’s visit follows Minister Fiqi’s visit to Pakistan on 4 August 2026, during which the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence and security cooperation.

H.E. Ahmed Moallin Fiqi commended the friendly relations between Somalia and Pakistan and stressed the importance of ensuring that bilateral cooperation supports Somalia’s national priorities in building the Somali National Army.
