Somali PM Establishes National Committee on Skills Development and Job Creation

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre has on Saturday
established a high-level National Committee on Skills Development and Job Creation to coordinate government efforts to expand employment opportunities and strengthen workforce skills.
The committee, formed under Article 120 of Somalia's Provisional Constitution, includes the Office of the Prime Minister and 13 ministries overseeing labor, education, planning, finance, trade, agriculture, health, and other key sectors.
Its mandate includes coordinating national skills development initiatives, aligning training with labor market needs, improving Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), strengthening public-private partnerships, and overseeing the implementation of employment programs.
The move follows more than a year of preparations led by the Prime Minister's Office and is intended to accelerate job creation and support private sector-led economic growth.
