Somalia Opens National Internal Security Conference in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Internal Security Conference has opened in Mogadishu, bringing together senior government officials and security stakeholders to discuss the country’s security, the stages it has gone through, and the current plans expected of security institutions.

High-level officials attending and addressing the conference include Acting President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Speaker of the House of the People, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur; National Security Adviser Aweys Xaaji; Minister Mukhtaar Roobow; Federal Minister of Interior Ali Hosh; Federal Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail; and Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi.

Acting President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and Speaker of the House of the People, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur, spoke about the importance of the country’s security, the stages it has gone through, and the current plan expected of the security institutions.

National Security Adviser Aweys Xaaji said, “The Security Plan carries a great responsibility in every aspect.”

Minister Mukhtaar Roobow said, “It is certain that there have been significant changes in the country’s security situation, and this has come as a result of the efforts made by the national leadership.”

Federal Minister of Interior Ali Hosh said, “To achieve success in security, it is important to work on social cohesion and reconciliation.”

Federal Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail said, “The country’s security situation is currently in a very good position, and this has been achieved through the unity of the security agencies.”

Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi said, “The Internal Security Conference is aimed at building a Somali-owned security system that also ensures accountability.”
