Somalia Opens EA-RDIP Implementation Review Meeting in Nairobi

NAIROBI, (SONNA) — The Minister of Communications and Technology of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Adam Moallim (Mohamed Somali), opened a meeting in Nairobi to review the implementation of the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EA-RDIP).

The meeting brings together officials and experts from the World Bank, Ministry of Communications and Technology, National Communications Authority (NCA), Data Protection Authority (DPA), Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and representatives of Somalia’s Federal Member States.

The project aims to advance digital connectivity, expand broadband infrastructure, facilitate data flows and strengthen digital integration across East Africa. It includes components focused on digital market integration, data infrastructure, digital services and project implementation support.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Mohamed Somali said the project had gone through challenging periods and stages but was now progressing in line with its plans and objectives.

The Minister said the Federal Government, particularly the Ministry of Communications and Technology, is prioritising efforts to accelerate the project and is prepared to commit time, effort and expertise to maximise the opportunities it creates for Somalia.

World Bank officials commended the Minister’s leadership and highlighted his focus on accelerating the project’s implementation and ensuring it progresses as planned.
