Somalia Condemns Attack on Power Facility Serving the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia strongly condemns the attack on a power facility supplying electricity to the Prophet's Holy Mosque in Madinah, in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ministry considers this attack on civilian infrastructure serving one of Islam's holiest sites an affront to the sanctity of the Holy Sites. It is also a clear violation of international law and of the Kingdom's sovereignty.

The Federal Republic of Somalia stands in full solidarity with the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Somalia supports the Kingdom's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and security and to protect its citizens, residents and visitors to the Holy Sites. As a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Somalia rejects all acts that threaten regional stability and calls for those responsible to be held accountable.
