Somalia’s House of the People Elects Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur as the New Speaker

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama has been elected Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People following a parliamentary vote held today in Mogadishu. He secured 142 votes, defeating fellow MP Abdulkadir Omar Macallin Daada, who received 30 votes.

A total of two votes were declared invalid during the election. The outcome makes Jama the new Speaker of the House of the People, succeeding Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, who recently assumed the leadership of Southwest State.
