Somali, Turkish Ground Troops Commanders Conclude Advanced Training for Gorgor Commando Brigade in Manisa

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Commander of the Somali National Army’s Ground Forces, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar alongside Turkish Ground Forces commander, General Metin Tokel today concluded an advanced training programme for the 21st Brigade of the 1st Division of the Gorgor Commando Forces in Manisa, Türkiye.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone as the brigade became the first complete Gorgor Commando brigade to undergo joint training at the same time and location. The training is part of ongoing efforts to accelerate the development of the Somali National Army and enhance its ability to carry out national duties with greater operational capacity and coordination.

The graduation comes as the Somali National Army intensifies preparations for large-scale counterterrorism operations aimed at defeating Al-Shabaab and restoring peace and stability across the country.
