Somali Strategic Communication Forum 2026 Opens in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The second edition of the Somali Strategic Communication Forum 2026 opened today in Mogadishu, bringing together government officials, media leaders and professionals, civil society organisations, development partners, diplomats and other national and international stakeholders.

Organised by the Federal Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, the two-day forum is being held under the theme “Shaping Somalia’s Media Future in the Digital Era” and will be officially opened by Second Prime Minister H.E. Jibril Abdirashid Haji.

The forum focuses on the development of Somalia’s media sector, the future direction of Somali media, strengthening government-public communication, and opportunities presented by technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and social media.

Participants will also discuss challenges related to misinformation and disinformation, while exchanging experiences and practical solutions on the role of media in social development, governance, public awareness and strengthening communication between government institutions and the public.
