Somali Special Forces Commander Concludes Advanced Training for SNA Units in Egypt

Cairo, (SONNA) — The Commander of the Somali National Army Special Forces Command, Brig. Gen. Adan Mohamed Omar, concluded an advanced training programme for units of the Somali Special Forces in Egypt.

The closing ceremony was attended by Acting Ambassador of the Somali Embassy in Egypt Abdihakim Ahmed Mohamed, Somalia’s Military Attaché to Egypt Brig. Gen. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, the Commander of Egypt’s Airborne Forces and other officials.

The Somali troops underwent advanced training in Egypt focused on commando skills, counterterrorism, urban warfare and parachute operations.

Brig. Gen. Adan Mohamed Omar addressed and encouraged the troops who completed the training, urging them to effectively apply the knowledge and skills they acquired in carrying out their national duties.

The training is part of security and defence cooperation between Somalia and Egypt aimed at strengthening the quality, capabilities and skills of the Somali National Army, particularly the Special Forces, to support operations against Al-Shabaab and efforts to safeguard national security.
