Somali President Inspects Mogadishu Port, Reviews Expansion Plans

Mogadishu(SONNA)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday conducted a working visit to the Port of Mogadishu, where he reviewed ongoing infrastructure upgrades and plans to modernize the country's main maritime gateway.
During the visit, the president toured the port's fuel storage facilities, warehouses, and a new administrative building, receiving briefings on efforts to rehabilitate key infrastructure and improve services for businesses and the public.
The President met with the Minister of Ports and Marine Transport and the Director General of Mogadishu Port, who updated him on the port's operations, ongoing development projects, and plans to construct a new Mogadishu Port aimed at meeting the capital's growing trade demands and supporting Somalia's economic expansion.
The president said developing the country's ports is critical to boosting economic growth, expanding trade, creating jobs, and strengthening Somalia's connectivity to international markets. He urged port authorities to accelerate efforts to improve efficiency and modernize port services.
