Somali Parliament Speaker Election Set for August 10 as Two MPs Secure Candidacy

Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Election Committee for the Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has issued candidacy certificates to MPs Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Jaamac) and Abdulkadir Omar Moallin (Daada), who have entered the race for the parliamentary speakership.

The committee held a meeting at its office in Villa Hargeisa, the headquarters of the parliamentary leadership and committees, where the two lawmakers formally received their certificates of candidacy.

According to the committee, the election for the Speaker of the House of the People is scheduled to take place on 10 August, which falls on Monday.
