Somali National Army Conducts Planned Operations in Lower Shabelle

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Army, particularly the 62nd Unit of the Sixth Battalion, conducted planned operations against Al-Shabaab in several areas of Kunturwaarey district in Lower Shabelle region.

The operations were carried out in Laba Yaaq, Cambareey, Busleey, Makaay Dumis and Maryan Dheere, under the leadership of the Commander of the 62nd Unit, Lt. Col. Farah Geedi Lugey.

The operations followed a meeting held in Buulo Mareer focused on protecting civilians, strengthening security, sharing information, securing key roads and coordinating security operations.

The meeting brought together Somali National Army officers, particularly personnel from the 62nd Unit, ATMIS forces, Kunturwaarey district administration officials and some community leaders.
