Somali Ambassador to Kenya Meets WHO Representative on Health Cooperation

Nairobi, (SONNA) — Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, received Dr. Humphrey Karamagi, the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Somalia, during a courtesy visit to the Somali Embassy.

The two officials discussed practical areas of cooperation affecting the health and well-being of the Somali people, including strengthening public health institutions, improving coordination, developing healthcare professionals’ skills and expanding access to reliable, high-quality health services.

The discussions also covered measures to reduce the public health impacts of the strengthening El Niño. They underscored the importance of early preparedness and close coordination among Somali institutions, WHO and development partners to protect vulnerable communities, maintain essential health services and respond to climate-related emergencies.

The Ambassador welcomed continued engagement with WHO and expressed appreciation for its sustained support to Somalia’s health sector and the priorities of the Federal Government.
