Somali Ambassador Attends UN-Habitat Executive Board Bureau Meeting

Nairobi, (SONNA) — Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, attended the Third Meeting of the Bureau of the Executive Board and Joint Bureau Meeting of UN-Habitat, which reviewed preparations for the second session of the Executive Board in 2026.
As Co-Chair of the Open-ended Expert Working Group on Adequate Housing for All (OEWG-H), alongside Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev, Amb. Jabril briefed the Bureau on preparations for the Working Group’s upcoming third session and efforts to advance the global agenda on adequate housing for all.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for UN-Habitat to update the Bureau on the Baku Call to Action from WUF13, the midterm implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the outcomes of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2026.
Discussions emphasized the need to translate these commitments into concrete action and accelerate implementation of the 2030 Agenda, while sustaining political momentum for the New Urban Agenda through 2036.
Amb. Jabril also congratulated the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and H.E. Guo Haiyan on China’s election as Chair of the Bureau, wishing the new Chair and all Bureau members success in guiding the work of the Executive Board.
