SoDMA, UNDP Discuss Humanitarian Response and El Niño Preparedness

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E. Mahamuud Moallim, received the new UNDP Somalia Resident Representative, Mr. Chris Politis, for an introductory meeting focused on Somalia’s humanitarian situation, disaster management and preparedness for the anticipated impacts of El Niño.

Mr. Politis commended SoDMA’s efforts to strengthen disaster prevention and management and reaffirmed UNDP Somalia’s commitment to supporting humanitarian response and emergency preparedness efforts.

Mr. Mahamuud welcomed the new UNDP representative and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between SoDMA and UNDP to better support communities affected by humanitarian challenges.
