SoDMA, OIC Institutions Discuss Preparedness for Potential Super El Niño Impacts

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan chaired a meeting with representatives of institutions from OIC member states to discuss preparedness and response to the potential impacts of Super El Niño.

The meeting reviewed El Niño forecasts, potential impacts and areas of Somalia at greater risk of heavy rainfall and flooding.

OIC institutions pledged to work closely with SoDMA, while SoDMA Assistant Commissioner for Arab and Islamic Affairs, Abdirahman Mohamed Hussein, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation.

Participants agreed to enhance joint efforts to reduce disaster impacts and protect the lives and safety of Somali communities.
