SoDMA, National Refugee Agency Discuss El Niño Preparedness

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle, received the Commissioner of the National Refugee Agency at the Agency’s headquarters to discuss preparations for the expected El Niño conditions.

The two officials discussed the potential impact on internally displaced people, particularly the risks of flooding and other conditions that could result from heavy rains.

The meeting also focused on strengthening early preparedness, early warning systems and coordination among relevant institutions to reduce the impact of disasters and ensure vulnerable communities are adequately prepared for appropriate emergency response.
