SoDMA Holds Consultation in Baidoa on Mogadishu-Baidoa Corridor Challenges

BAIDOA, (SONNA) — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) held a consultation in Baidoa with business leaders, civil society representatives and local government officials to discuss challenges along the Mogadishu-Baidoa corridor, including checkpoints, unofficial fees and road safety.

Supported by UNICEF in Somalia, the consultation gathered firsthand information on how these challenges affect commercial transport and the movement of humanitarian supplies, while exploring ways to strengthen safety, coordination and reliable access along the corridor.

The session was opened by the South West State Director General for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hussein Nor Adan. Technical discussions were led by SoDMA Senior Adviser Mukhtar Sheikh Hussein, while closing remarks were delivered by Ministry Coordinator Ibrahim Mohamed Abdi.
