SoDMA Chief Arrives in Beledweyne to Strengthen Flood Preparedness and Emergency Response

Beledweyne, (SONNA) — The Commissioner of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E. Mohamud Ma’alin Abdulle, accompanied by the State Minister of Hirshabelle’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, arrived in Beledweyne, Hiiraan Region, to accelerate emergency response efforts and strengthen preparedness for potential flooding.
The SoDMA Commissioner and his delegation were received by officials from the Hirshabelle State administration and representatives of the local community.
The visit is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts to enhance preparedness and preventive measures against flooding risks and the anticipated impacts of El Niño.
During his stay in Beledweyne, the Commissioner is scheduled to hold meetings with regional and district authorities, as well as various sections of the community. He will also visit areas near waterways to assess the situation and strengthen public awareness of flood risks.
The SoDMA Commissioner urged residents to open and clear waterways to facilitate the flow of water and help prevent flooding and related damage.
He also called on communities to stay away from areas vulnerable to flooding and take early measures to reduce risks and protect lives and property.
