SNA’s Land Forces Commander Inspects Damaged Bardhere Bridge

Baardheere, (SONNA) — The Commander of the Somali National Army Land Forces, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar “Gen. Khalid,” who is on official duties in Bardhere, Gedo Region, inspected the Bardhere Bridge, which has sustained significant damage and is currently completely out of service.
The commander and accompanying officers also assessed the overall condition of the river running through Bardhere, particularly both riverbanks, reviewing the security and living conditions in the area amid concerns over major flooding forecast in parts of Somalia.
The Commander of the 36th Brigade of the 43rd Division of the Somali National Army, Col. Osman Sheikh Abdi “Qorax,” and Bardhere district authorities, accompanied by the district airport manager Jama Ali Hire, briefed the commander on security conditions along the riverbanks and the basic needs of the local community.
Brig. Gen. Sahal pledged to address the challenges facing the area, with priority given to rehabilitating the Bardhere Bridge, whose damage has rendered it completely unusable.
The bridge is vital to the movement of people and vehicles, and its destruction has created a major obstacle to connecting communities on both sides of the river and delivering essential services.
