President Hassan Sheikh Speaks at Farewell Ceremony for Former House Speaker

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, last night attended a farewell ceremony in Mogadishu honoring former Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Aden Madobe), who was recently elected leader of South West State.
Addressing the gathering, President Hassan Sheikh highlighted the importance of the legislative branch and its central role in state-building, safeguarding the Constitution, and advancing Somalia’s democratic governance.
The President commended Aden Madobe for his leadership of the House of the People during his tenure, noting his contributions to strengthening cooperation among state institutions and enhancing parliamentary performance.
President Hassan Sheikh also stated that Somalia has entered a constitutional electoral process, describing it as a reflection of the country’s growing democratic maturity and commitment to democratic governance.
The farewell ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, senior government officials, members of parliament, and other distinguished guests. Participants praised Aden Madobe’s service to the House of the People and wished him success in his new role as leader of South West State.
