President Hassan Sheikh Holds Talks with Leaders on Sidelines of NAM Meeting in Serbia

Belgrade, (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Aleksandar Vučić, on the sidelines of the High-Level Commemorative Meeting marking the 65th Anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries in Belgrade.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by H.E. Abdisalam Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and President Aleksandar Vučić discussed the longstanding relations between Somalia and Serbia and agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in security, the economy and investment.

Somalia, one of the 25 participants in the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries held in Belgrade in 1961, reaffirmed its commitment to multilateral cooperation and to broadening its international partnerships.

The President also held talks with H.E. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Parliament, Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. The two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also held fruitful discussions with H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, on the sidelines of the NAM65 Summit in Belgrade, Serbia.

The two leaders exchanged views on strengthening Somalia-Ghana bilateral relations, expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and advancing shared priorities for peace, development and prosperity across Africa.
