PM Hamza Lays Foundation Stone for Peace House in Balanballe

Balanballe, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, laid the foundation stone for the Peace House and the Orphans' School in Balanballe District in the Galgaduud region, following a ceremony held in the district to finalize a reconciliation agreement between two brotherly clans that had been locked in a long-running civil conflict in the Balanballe and Guriceel districts.
At the foundation-laying ceremony for the Peace House, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Internal Security, H.E. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad, and the leader of Galmudug, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Kariye.
The Peace House whose foundation was laid in Balanballe will serve as a base and symbol of peace and community unity, while the Orphans' School is intended for children who lost their parents in the civil conflicts, and will accommodate up to 600 students.
The long-running conflict between the brotherly clans of Guriceel and Balanballe affected the lives of the people and the area, and 52 elders representing the two clans yesterday witnessed a ceremony where Ugaas Hassan and Ugaas Mohamed signed the agreement finalizing peace between the two clans.
