New House of the People’s Speaker Holds Talks with Turkish and Arab Parliament Speakers

Mogadishu (SONNA) – Newly elected Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, on Tuesday held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts in Türkiye and the Arab Parliament.
Speaker Jaamac spoke with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, who congratulated him on his election as Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People.
The two speakers discussed ways to strengthen and advance relations between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly parliamentary cooperation. Speaker Jaamac expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Türkiye for their continued support to Somalia and its people.
Speaker Jaamac also held a separate telephone conversation with President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yammahi, who likewise congratulated him on his election.
Their discussion focused on strengthening relations and cooperation between the two parliaments, as well as other matters of mutual interest and importance to parliamentary cooperation.
The engagements come a day after Speaker Jaamac was elected to lead Somalia’s House of the People, marking the beginning of his tenure as head of the Federal Parliament’s lower house.
