NISA Kills Seven Al-Shabaab Militants in Planned Operation in Lower Shabelle

Mogadishu (SONNA) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in cooperation with international partners, has killed seven Al-Shabaab militants and wounded several senior commanders in a planned operation in the Tawakal area of Lower Shabelle region, according to a statement issued by the agency.
The operation targeted an Al-Shabaab facility in Tawakal after NISA obtained intelligence confirming the presence of senior members of the group at the location. The targeted site was reportedly used by senior commanders for meetings and coordination.
NISA identified those present at the site as Yoonis Moallim Abukar, who was responsible for the Mushaani area; Abu Haji Farey, the militia commander in Tawakal; Ayatollah, the Al-Shabaab commander for Lower Shabelle; and Abdifatah Rooble, the group’s former commander in Baladul-Amin.
Preliminary information confirmed that Yoonis Moallim Abukar and Abdifatah Rooble sustained serious injuries during the operation.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s capabilities by targeting its leadership and disrupting locations used to organize and coordinate terrorist activities.
NISA urged members of the public to report security threats and information related to Al-Shabaab or ISIS through its designated security channels.
