NISA Kills Nine Al-Shabaab Members in Planned Operation Near Jowhar

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces, in cooperation with international partners, killed nine Al-Shabaab members, including two commanders, in a planned operation in Warciise area, 25 kilometers from Jowhar town in Middle Shabelle region.
The commanders killed in the operation were identified as Ahmed Ali Jimcaale, who was the most prominent Al-Shabaab commander in Jowhar district, and Geedi Mohamed Nur Adde, who was the group’s commander in the Dumaaye and Dabagaalo areas. The two commanders had been under surveillance for some time, with their information and movements being tracked.
The operation also killed seven Al-Shabaab militants belonging to what the group calls its Hisba militia in the Warciise area, who were accompanying the targeted commanders. The operation proceeded as planned and inflicted a heavy blow on Al-Shabaab.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s capabilities and dismantle its commanders and the networks it uses to organize terrorist activities.
