NISA Kills Al-Shabaab Leader and Three Militants in Middle Shabelle Operation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in cooperation with international partners, conducted planned operations in the Guulane and Al-Furqaan areas of Middle Shabelle region, killing an Al-Shabaab leader and three militants and wounding another leader.
The operation took place as the targeted individuals were leaving a meeting held in Guulane.
The four militants killed included Omar Siyaad Araaye, an Al-Shabaab leader responsible for tribal affairs in Middle Shabelle, two militants who were driving motorcycles carrying the leaders, and another militant serving as a guard.
The operation also wounded Abdi Mohamed Nur, an Al-Shabaab leader responsible for tribal affairs. Abdullah Ali Araaye and Abdi Daalane, who were among the targeted leaders, narrowly escaped the operation.
NISA said the operations are part of its ongoing efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab leaders and networks and weaken their capacity to organise and carry out attacks against Somali civilians.
