Mogadishu Mayor Launches Reconstruction of Historic Bartamaha School

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Mogadishu Mayor and Benadir Regional Governor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Mungab) on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Bartamaha School, one of Somalia’s historic educational institutions.

Built during the colonial era, before the 1960s, the school has served generations of Somali students. However, years of deterioration and significant structural damage have raised safety concerns for students and teachers, prompting the need for reconstruction and modernization.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Mungab said the project was part of the Benadir Regional Administration’s efforts to improve educational services and ensure a safe learning environment for students and teachers.

The event was attended by Abdirahman Ali Mohamed, Director General of the Benadir Regional Administration’s Education Directorate, and the commissioner of Shangani District.
