Ministry of Commerce convenes workshop on finalizing 2026-2030 National Plan

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia today convened a workshop to finalize and validate Somalia’s 2026–2030 National Plan, focused on increasing the value of sesame and fisheries through value addition, quality improvement and market access.
The plan will address post-production challenges, strengthen value chains and connect Somali products to domestic, regional and global markets. It aims to support 300 businesses, establish 80 buyer linkages and create nearly 1,200 jobs.
Supported by EIF-WTO with technical assistance from ESAMI-TRAPCA, the plan targets at least $35M in new investment, helping transform Somalia’s productive sectors, expand value-added exports, increase incomes and create sustainable economic opportunities.
