Intergenerational Dialogue Forum on Peacebuilding and Governance Opens in Mogadishu

Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation is convening the Intergenerational Dialogue Forum on Peacebuilding and Governance in Mogadishu, bringing together emerging leaders, women, representatives of marginalised communities, civil society, community leaders, experienced practitioners and government officials for a full day of open and interactive discussions.

The forum is providing a platform for communities to directly engage with government institutions, allowing participants to question how institutions operate, discuss barriers to participation, share their experiences and present practical recommendations for change.

At the centre of the dialogue is a key question: How can Somalia build governance and reconciliation processes in which more Somalis can meaningfully participate?

Discussions during the forum are focusing on reconciliation, federalism and local governance, access to government institutions, leadership opportunities and stronger engagement between government and communities.

The dialogue is also intended to translate participants’ experiences and proposals into practical recommendations that can help inform the Ministry’s work on peacebuilding, reconciliation and inclusive governance.

The forum reflects an emphasis on creating stronger links between government institutions and the communities they serve, while providing space for different generations and groups to contribute to discussions on Somalia’s governance and reconciliation processes.
