Information Minister receives the Ambassador of Sudan to Somalia

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud, received the Ambassador of Sudan to Somalia, H.E. Abdelrahman Khalil Ahmed Afandi, at his office in Mogadishu on Wednesday, where they discussed strengthening the historic relations and cooperation between Somalia and Sudan.
The meeting focused on advancing the longstanding brotherly ties between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly media and culture.
Ambassador Abdelrahman Khalil Ahmed Afandi expressed appreciation for the warm reception, noting the strong and longstanding bonds between the governments and peoples of Sudan and Somalia.
Minister Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud reaffirmed Somalia’s appreciation for the continued support and solidarity extended by the Government and people of Sudan, describing the relationship between the two countries as rooted in mutual respect, cooperation and solidarity.
Following the meeting, Minister Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud and Ambassador Abdelrahman Khalil Ahmed Afandi toured key sections of Somalia’s National Media, including Somali National Television (SNTV), Radio Muqdisho and the Radio Muqdisho Historical Archives.
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the role of national media in preserving Somalia’s cultural and historical heritage, while exploring avenues for stronger cooperation in the media sector.
The two sides underscored the importance of sustaining and expanding productive cooperation between Somalia and Sudan, particularly in media and cultural affairs, while further strengthening the historic and strategic ties between the two countries.
