Information Minister Receives Algerian Ambassador to Somalia

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Qasim Mohamed, today received the Ambassador of Algeria to Somalia, Ambassador Mohamed Alim, at the Ministry's headquarters.

The meeting focused on strengthening the historic ties and longstanding cooperation between Somalia and Algeria, particularly in the fields of information, culture, tourism, and developing media cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between media institutions, exchanging experiences and professional training, developing culture, arts and literature, and modernizing government media.

Following the meeting, the Minister and the Ambassador jointly toured various sections of the National Media, including the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), Somali National Television (SNTV), Radio Mogadishu, and the Historic Archive of Radio Mogadishu.

They also visited the Somali National Theatre, where they were warmly welcomed by the National Artists of Waaberi and traditional dance groups, who presented performances reflecting the richness of Somali heritage, culture and arts.

The Ambassador of the State of Algeria, Ambassador Mohamed Alim, thanked the Ministry for the warm reception, expressing his government's commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation between Somalia and Algeria, particularly in information, culture, arts and literature.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdifatah Qasim Mohamed, emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries, noting that collaboration in information, arts and culture can play an important role in developing national media, preserving heritage and culture, and exchanging experiences between the two countries.

Minister Abdifatah Qasim also thanked the Ambassador for his visit and his efforts to strengthen Somalia-Algeria relations.

Finally, this meeting reflects the commitment of Somalia and Algeria to further strengthening their historic relations and expanding cooperation in information, culture, arts and literature, in order to create new opportunities for knowledge exchange, media development, cultural strengthening, and fostering ties between the two peoples.
