Information Minister Meets China’s Minister of National Radio and Television Administration

Beijing, (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud, held a bilateral meeting in Beijing with Ms. Cao Shumin, Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China.

The two Ministers discussed strengthening cooperation between Somalia and China in the fields of media and culture, with particular focus on media modernisation, institutional capacity building, professional training, and the exchange of expertise and experience.

Minister Abdulfatah expressed his appreciation to the Government and people of China for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to modernising Somalia’s media sector and expanding practical cooperation with Chinese media institutions.

Ms. Cao Shumin welcomed Minister Abdulfatah and his delegation to China and expressed China’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Somalia’s Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The two sides also discussed advancing a media cooperation and twinning agreement, which is expected to be signed by the end of 2026, providing a framework for sustained institutional cooperation and partnership between the two sides.
