IGAD Foreign Ministers to Meet in Djibouti on Regional Peace and Security

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Foreign ministers from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) member states are set to convene in Djibouti on 15 September 2026 for the 74th Extraordinary Session of the IGAD Council of Ministers.

The meeting comes at a critical time for the Horn of Africa, with ministers expected to discuss pressing regional peace and security challenges and coordinate collective responses to issues affecting member states and their populations.

As one of IGAD’s principal policy-making bodies, the Council of Ministers provides a platform for member states to consult, coordinate policies and take collective decisions on peace, stability and regional cooperation.

The Djibouti meeting is expected to shape IGAD’s regional priorities and strengthen coordinated efforts to address emerging security and political challenges across the region.
