Human Rights Commission, UNDP and ANNHRI Open Capacity-Building Workshop in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Somalia's National Independent Human Rights Commission (NIHRC), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI) have opened a three-day workshop in Mogadishu aimed at strengthening the Commission's institutional and operational capacity.
The workshop focuses on the Paris Principles and GANHRI accreditation, Law No. 16 and institutional independence, complaints and investigations, detention monitoring, human rights documentation, and engagement with UN human rights mechanisms.
Opening the workshop, NIHRC Chairperson Dr. Maryan Qasim thanked UNDP and ANNHRI for their continued technical support, while ANNHRI Secretary-General Sultan Bin Hassan Aljamali and UNDP Somalia's Head of Governance Programmes, Evariste Sibomana, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Commission in fulfilling its mandate.
