Foreign Minister Reaffirms Somalia’s Commitment to AfCFTA Implementation

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali today received Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, at his office.
The AfCFTA Secretary-General briefed the Minister on the implementation of AfCFTA’s mandate and its role in advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
For his part, H.E. Minister Abdisalam reaffirmed the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to implementing the AfCFTA framework, noting that Somalia has already ratified the agreement.
The Minister stressed the importance of Somalia fully benefiting from opportunities offered by AfCFTA in trade, investment and economic integration across the African continent.
