Firefighters Contain Major Blaze at Mogadishu’s Bakara Market

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Firefighters and emergency response teams in Banadir Region have contained a major fire that broke out on Tuesday at Bakara Market, one of the largest commercial centres in Mogadishu.

Officials at the scene told SONNA that the blaze was brought under control following coordinated efforts by firefighters, traders and private companies.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed several business premises and caused significant property damage.

Relevant agencies have also begun assessing the extent of the losses, with no official figures on the damage or casualties released so far.
