Finance Ministry Concludes Quarterly Budget Coordination Meeting in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (SONNA) – Director General of the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Suleiman Sheikh Omar, on Tuesday closed the four-day Quarterly Budget Coordination Meeting, which brought together representatives from the Federal Government, Federal Member States, and the Banadir Regional Administration in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on harmonizing and aligning budget preparation procedures across the Federal Government, Federal Member States, and the Banadir Regional Administration. Participants also discussed the preparation of the annual national budget and mechanisms for ensuring public participation in the budget process before it is submitted to the Council of Ministers and Parliament.

During the meeting, the Budget Subcommittee presented progress reports and work plans, while participants reviewed priorities and agendas for upcoming sessions aimed at strengthening Somalia’s public financial management and budgetary framework.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Suleiman Sheikh Omar commended the Budget Subcommittee for its efforts and reaffirmed the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and promoting a unified approach to budget preparation across all levels of government.
