Final Preparations Underway for Somalia Parliament Speaker Election

Mogadishu (SONNA) – Final preparations for the election of the Speaker of the House of the People are underway at Villa Hargeisa, the headquarters of Somalia’s House of the People.

Members of the House of the People are expected to elect a new Speaker today following the departure of former Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), who was elected as the leader of South West State.

The election is being contested by two candidates: MP Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jaamac, who currently serves as Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, and MP Abdulkadir Omar Moallin (Daada).

Officials and election organizers are making final arrangements at Villa Hargeisa ahead of the parliamentary vote.
