Federal, State Agriculture Ministers Endorse Reforms to Boost Food Security

Mogadishu(SONNA)–Somalia's Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayir Maareeye, chaired a two-day meeting of Federal and State Agriculture Ministers, during which officials endorsed a series of reforms aimed at strengthening agricultural coordination and improving food security across the country.
The ministers approved key initiatives, including the establishment of a national farmer registry and an early warning system to support agricultural development, enhance preparedness, and improve coordination between federal and state institutions.
Minister Maareeye also officially closed the Somalia Food Systems Resilience Program (S-FSRP) National Coordination and Planning Workshop, reaffirming the Federal Government's commitment to stronger collaboration, effective implementation of agricultural programs, and building resilient food systems to support sustainable development nationwide.
