Federal Government Pledges Rapid Reconstruction of Dhusamareb's Football Stadium and Basketball Court, Minister of Youth and Sports Announces
Speaking in the Galmudug capital, Minister Mohamed Abdikadir Ali said the Federal Government has committed to rebuilding the city's football stadium and basketball court as quickly as possible, extending the government's sports infrastructure drive to the heart of central Somalia.

DHUSAMAREB (SONNA): The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Abdikadir Ali has announced that the Federal Government has pledged to rebuild the football stadium and the basketball court in the city of Dhusamareb as quickly as possible.
"The Federal Government of Somalia has pledged to rebuild the football stadium and the basketball court in Dhusamareb city as quickly as possible," the Minister said.
The Minister made the announcement in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug State, where he was attending the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP) in the city.
The pledge brings the Federal Government's investment in sports facilities to one of the most consequential cities in central Somalia. Dhusamareb has grown steadily in national standing as the seat of the Galmudug State administration and a regular host of major national gatherings, and the commitment to its sporting infrastructure answers a need long expressed by the city's young people, who have lacked modern facilities for football and basketball, the two most widely played sports among Somali youth.
The announcement fits within the Ministry of Youth and Sports' declared priorities, which place sports infrastructure development alongside youth employment, skills training and grassroots sports promotion at the centre of its mandate. The Federal Government has made the restoration of sporting life a visible marker of the country's wider recovery, from the rehabilitation of stadiums in the capital to the reactivation of national and regional competitions that had fallen silent for years.
For Galmudug, the commitment lands at a moment of broader momentum. The state has featured prominently in the national agenda in recent weeks, from the extension of one person one vote voter card distribution into its districts to federal engagement across security and development, and the promise of rebuilt sporting grounds in the state capital adds a further dimension to that engagement, one aimed squarely at the young generation.
The Ministry has not yet announced the timeline or scope of the reconstruction works. The Minister's commitment that the rebuilding will proceed as quickly as possible signals that further details on the two facilities are expected to follow.
