FIFA President Gianni Infantino Set for Historic Somalia Visit

Mogadishu(SONNA)-FIFA President Gianni Infantino is expected to make a historic visit to Somalia later this year, the Somali Football Federation (SFF) announced, describing the trip as a milestone for the country's football development.

SFF President and CECAFA Vice President Ali Abdi Mohamed (Ali Shiine) said the visit follows high-level discussions he held with Infantino during recent meetings in the United States, which resulted in key agreements to strengthen football development in Somalia.

The federation said the planned visit reflects FIFA's confidence in the progress of Somali football, attributing the development to close cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Minister Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali, and the SFF.

According to the SFF, Infantino's visit is expected to pave the way for greater FIFA support, including investment in football infrastructure, the training of coaches and referees, youth and women's football development, and enhanced technical and administrative capacity.
